Who Can Apply

Eligibility Criteria for Admission

Official VTU and Government of Karnataka eligibility criteria for Undergraduate (B.E.) and Postgraduate (M.Tech) admissions at VVIT.

🎓 Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.)

Undergraduate

Admission to the first year / first semester of the Bachelor of Engineering/Technology program shall be open to candidates who have successfully completed the Second Year Pre-University (PUC), XII Standard, or an equivalent examination recognized by the University.

Academic Requirements

Minimum Aggregate Requirement: Secured not less than 45% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination.
Mandatory Subjects: Physics and Mathematics are compulsory.
Elective Requirement: Must have studied and passed at least one elective subject: Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Computer Science, or Electronics.
Relaxation for Reserved Categories: For SC/ST and OBC candidates from Karnataka, the minimum aggregate in the elective subject(s) is relaxed to 40%.
English Proficiency: Must have studied and passed English as one of the subjects in the qualifying examination.

* Admissions shall be conducted in accordance with Government orders issued from time to time, which shall take precedence over the above criteria.

🎓 Master of Technology (M.Tech)

Postgraduate

Admission to the M.Tech. program shall be open to candidates who have completed B.E. / B.Tech. in a relevant branch from VTU or any other recognized University. AMIE qualification in respective branch is also eligible (CET required).

Academic Requirements

Minimum Aggregate: Obtained not less than 50% aggregate marks in the aggregate of all years of the qualifying degree examination.
Category Relaxation: For SC/ST and Group-I categories, the minimum aggregate requirement is relaxed to 45%.

Entrance Examination

Entrance Examination: Admission to PG courses shall be based on an Entrance Examination conducted by the University / PGCET.
GATE Exemption: Candidates who have qualified in the GATE examination in the relevant branch shall be given priority and are exempted from the Entrance Examination.
